Couple Abducted After Close UFO Encounter In New Hampshire 1961

On the night of September 19 1961 Betty and Barney Hill were driving home through rural New Hampshire after a vacation in Canada.

Near Lancaster they noticed a bright light in the sky that appeared to be following their car. The object drew closer revealing a large disc shaped craft with flashing lights.

Frightened the couple attempted to flee but experienced a period of missing time arriving home hours later than expected.

Over the following weeks both suffered nightmares and anxiety. Under hypnosis with psychiatrist Benjamin Simon they independently recalled being taken aboard the craft by small humanoid beings examined and then released with instructions not to remember.

The case became one of the first widely publicized abduction reports in the United States supported by their detailed consistent testimony and the unexplained physical effects on their vehicle and clothing.
