Disc Hovers Silently Over Greenfield Massachusetts in 1954

During the summer of 1954 in Greenfield Massachusetts several residents reported a striking encounter with an unidentified flying object.

Multiple eyewitnesses described a metallic disc-shaped craft that hovered silently above residential areas for several minutes.

The object exhibited no visible propulsion system and made no sound. After the hover phase it accelerated rapidly and vanished from sight.

Local accounts were consistent in describing the craft's smooth surface and disc form.

No official explanation was ever provided and the incident remains one of the well-documented early UFO cases from the northeastern United States.

The sighting contributed to growing public interest in aerial phenomena during the 1950s.
