Disc Shaped Objects Spotted Flying Over Moses Lake in 1947
In the summer of 1947 Moses Lake Washington became the site of one of the earliest documented clusters of disc sightings during the national UFO wave.
Local residents and military personnel stationed nearby observed multiple metallic disc shaped objects maneuvering at extraordinary speeds and performing abrupt turns that defied known aircraft capabilities of the era.
Witnesses described the objects as round flat discs reflecting sunlight with no visible wings or propulsion systems.
Some accounts noted the discs flying in precise formation before accelerating out of sight.
The events helped fuel the term flying saucer in media coverage and prompted early investigations by what would become Project Sign.
Today the Moses Lake reports stand as a key example of the widespread disc phenomena that defined the 1947 UFO wave in the United States.
