Glowing Objects Seen By Police Near Ann Arbor Michigan 1966
During March 1966 a wave of UFO sightings swept through southeastern Michigan centered around Ann Arbor Dexter and Hillsdale.
On the evening of March 20 police officers in Dexter observed a large glowing object with red and green lights that hovered low over a swampy area before darting away at high speed.
Additional reports came from Hillsdale College students and faculty who watched a similar craft for several hours on March 21.
The incidents drew national attention and were investigated by Project Blue Book astronomer J Allen Hynek who initially suggested swamp gas as an explanation a conclusion that drew widespread criticism.
Witnesses consistently described the objects as silent structured craft that performed impossible maneuvers.
The 1966 Michigan wave remains one of the most documented police involved UFO events in United States history.
