Highway Inspector Photographs Metallic Disc UFO Over Santa Ana

On August 3 1965 Rex Heflin a highway traffic inspector for the Orange County Road Department was driving along Myford Road in Santa Ana California when he noticed a strange metallic object hovering silently in the sky.

Reaching for his Polaroid camera he quickly took three photographs of the disc shaped craft which appeared to be about 30 feet in diameter with a dome on top and no visible means of propulsion. The object then moved away at high speed without making any sound.

Heflin reported the sighting to authorities and the photos were later analyzed by experts including those from the United States Air Force and civilian UFO research groups.

The images showed a clear structured object with sharp edges and consistent lighting that could not be explained as a conventional aircraft balloon or known optical effect.

The case gained attention in UFO literature and the photographs have been studied for decades remaining among the most credible visual evidence from that era.

No official explanation was ever provided and Heflin maintained the authenticity of his account throughout his life.
