Witness Boards Silver Saucer And Meets Beings Near Kearney Nebraska

On November 5 1957 in Kearney Nebraska a grain buyer named Reinhold Schmidt claimed a remarkable encounter with a landed unidentified flying object.
While driving near the Platte River Schmidt noticed a metallic silver disc shaped craft resting on the ground. Approaching cautiously he was met by several humanoid figures who communicated with him in German.
Schmidt reported being invited aboard the craft where he observed advanced instruments and received information about their peaceful intentions. The beings reportedly hailed from another world and the craft emitted no sound during takeoff.
Schmidt shared his account with local authorities and it was documented in contemporary newspapers and UFO investigation files. Though controversial the Kearney incident stands as one of the earliest reported cases involving direct contact and boarding of a UFO in the United States.
Investigators noted Schmidt's consistent descriptions across multiple retellings and the absence of any conventional aircraft matching the details. The event contributed to growing public interest in UFO phenomena during the late 1950s.
