Background

Linda Ann Moulton was born on January 20, 1942, in Boise, Idaho. She won the 1963 Miss Idaho title, which provided scholarships, and competed in the Miss America pageant. She graduated cum laude with a B.A. in English literature from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1965. In 1966 she received the Stanley Baubaire Scholarship and completed an M.A. in communication at Stanford University in 1968, producing a documentary for the Stanford Medical Center.

Howe began her professional career in television after Stanford. She worked at stations including KNBC in Los Angeles before joining KMGH-TV in Denver in 1978 as director of special projects. There she produced environmental documentaries such as Poison in the Wind, A Sun Kissed Poison, Fire in the Water, and A Radioactive Water, earning regional Emmys and the Florence Sabin Award in 1982 for public health contributions.

In 1980, while at KMGH-TV, Howe produced the documentary A Strange Harvest examining unexplained cattle mutilations across the American West. The film suggested possible non-human involvement and received a regional Emmy. It marked her shift toward investigating high-strangeness phenomena while she continued mainstream environmental reporting.

On April 9, 1983, Howe met Air Force Office of Special Investigations agent Richard Doty at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque. Doty showed her several pages of a document titled 'Briefing for the President of the United States of America' on unidentified aerial vehicles. The paper described crash retrievals, recovered extraterrestrial entities, and links to cattle mutilations for tissue sampling. She was not permitted to take notes.

Howe has stated that Doty and later contacts provided additional information over subsequent years confirming official awareness of extraterrestrial programs involving mutilations. She detailed these claims in books including An Alien Harvest (1989) and Glimpses of Other Realities volumes I and II. She also produced Strange Harvests 1993 and appeared on programs such as Coast to Coast AM from 1991 to 2019.

After leaving full-time television work in 1983, Howe founded her own production company and focused on independent reporting. She investigated crop circles, abductions, and government secrecy claims. Her work appeared on Ancient Aliens, Sightings, and other shows. She received further awards including WebAwards for Earthfiles.com, launched in 2007.

Howe has traveled extensively for research across North America, Europe, South America, Africa, Asia, and Australia. She has written four books on mutilations, non-human interactions, and crop formations. Her reporting emphasizes witness interviews, documents, and field evidence rather than speculation alone.

Critics have questioned the authenticity of the documents shown to her and her conclusions about extraterrestrial causation. Howe maintains that multiple sources, including military and intelligence personnel, corroborated the patterns of official knowledge and suppression she first encountered in 1983.

Throughout the 2000s and 2010s Howe expanded her platform with the Earthfiles website and later podcast. She continued weekly broadcasts covering UAPs, mutilations, and related topics. In 2024 the History Channel aired an episode titled 'The Linda Moulton Howe Files' highlighting her career.

Howe has received lifetime achievement awards from the Conscious Life Expo in 2016 and other conferences. She remains based in New Mexico and continues producing content focused on unexplained phenomena as of late 2026.
